Signs & Symptoms

meat constipation in babies

There are many possible reasons for your child's constipation:

  • Not getting enough fluids
  • Not getting enough high-fibre foods, fresh fruit, fresh veg and whole grains
  • A diet high in animal fat (meat, dairy products, eggs) and refined sugar (rich desserts and
other sweets)
  • Introduction of solid foods. This is because their tiny tummies are used to processing the easily digestible. Breastfed babies may be more prone to constipation when switched to solid foods.
  • Weaning from breast milk to other types of milk
  • Less activity and not eating and drinking as much, for example when your child is unwell
  • Have problems potty (or toilet) training
